Obituary

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Brenda Elaine Brown Sprouse, who went to be with the Lord, May 11, 2026. She was a truly kind, loving, and gentle soul whose presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Brenda was a devoted mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her life, and she poured her love endlessly into each of them. She had a beautiful way of making everyone feel special-through her warm hugs, her gentle words, and the quiet strength she carried every day.

A devout Christian, Brenda lived her life guided by faith, love, and compassion. She found great joy in her faith and especially loved singing gospel music, lifting her voice in praise and sharing that joy with others. Her faith was the foundation of who she was, and she shared that love and kindness with everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jay Sprouse; her parents, Henry Johnson Brown and Vinnie Dean Cleo Brown; her sons-in-law, Buck McCallister and Buck Oliver; and her 8 brothers and sisters.

Brenda leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts forever: her children, Elaina, Kim (Allen), Deana (Edward), Johna (Kenny), and Melissa (Jay). She was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy-especially her beloved grandson Jakeb, who held a very special place in her heart.

Known for her gentle spirit and compassionate heart, Brenda lived a life filled with kindness, patience, and grace. She found happiness in the simple moments-time spent with family, laughter shared across generations, and the quiet beauty of everyday life.

Her legacy is one of unconditional love-a love that will continue to live on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Though she will be deeply missed, her warmth, her kindness, and her gentle presence will never be forgotten.

She will always be remembered, always be loved, and forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2026, in North Buncombe Church of God, 19 S. Main St. Ext., Weaverville, NC. Reverends Josh Mathews and Jimmy Dean Hensley will officiate.
