IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Burlin
Norton
September 27, 1939 – February 14, 2024
Burlin Norton, age 84, passed away on February 14, 2024. He was born on September 27, 1939, in Madison County, to the late Roscoe and Lois Wilds Norton.
Burlin (Papaw) was a hardworking family man. He was a good husband for Shirley, his wife for 58 years. True, they pushed each other's buttons at times, but forgave, forgot, changed, grew, and always prayed for each other. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and often commented on how proud he was of his children and grandchildren.
He was a "sinner saved by grace"; he gave his heart to Jesus Christ at the age of 42. That was the beginning of his journey here on earth that changed his life. He loved reading his Bible, listening to gospel singing and hearing the preached word. He is in glory today with his Lord and loved ones. If he could say anything to us now, it would be "prepare to meet God."
Burlin was a member at Beech Glen Baptist Church, he served as a former Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher, as well as on several committees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, R.J. and Ray Norton.
Burlin is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Norton; daughter, Karla N. Chandler (Larry); son, Ashley Norton (Heather); brother, Richard Norton (Edith Whitt); sister-in-law, Wilma Jean Norton; 3 grandchildren, Whitney Chandler, Grady and Mallory Norton.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday February 18, 2024, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverends Shane Cassida, and Stanley Peek will officiate. Burial will follow in the Beech Glen Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday February 17, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
