Rev. Burnus "Elmer" Edwards, 88 years of age passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 18, 2021. He is the son of the late James Fabious and Leila Lawson Edwards. He is a US Army Veteran and pastored for 57 years in several churches in Buncombe and Madison Counties.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juda Hall Edwards; son, Dean Edwards (Teresa); grandchildren, Stephanie Stroupe (Clay), Madeline Mitchell (Al); great grandchildren, Margaret Stroupe, Graham Mitchell, Juliette Mitchell, and Abraham Mitchell.

A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Barnardsville Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Jock Rhew officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 12 – 2 prior to the service.
