MARS HILL: Calvin Norman Chandler, 86 of 2661 Chandler Creek Rd., passed away Wednesday, 03/02/2011 at Missions Hospital. He was born in Yancey County to the late Williard Pierce and Jaylina McKinney Chandler. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Norman Chandler. He was formerly employed at Mars Hill College and was a retired farmer and a member of Upper Laurel Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Ernestine Honeycutt Chandler, sisters, Carolyn Shepherd and Dorothy Fox of Burnsville, brother, Donald Chandler of Weaverville and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Cline Hensley Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 PM Saturday. A private graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday at Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Mike and Paul Honeycutt, Gregg, Steve and Ronnie Chandler and Charlie L. Lanahan.
