Rev. Carl J. Robinson, 88, of Weaverville, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026. He was a native of Madison County and the son of the late Cays and Stella Mae Ponder Robinson. Carl is also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ruth Robinson, a son, Kevin Robinson, grandson, Jeff Robinson, Jr., sisters, Ruth Rice and Eva Hunter, and brother, Roy Leonard Robinson.

Rev. Robinson was ordained as a Baptist minister when he was 47 years old. He started pastoring within 2 years. He pastored churches in Buncombe and Madison until he had to retire in 2014 for health reasons. He sang tenor in several quartets with The Cavaliers Qt spanning the longest time and being the most well-known. He traveled many miles singing and spreading the joys of being a child of God. He was a brick mason by trade most of his adult life, helping to build several buildings for Mars Hill College, Brevard College, and Mission Hospital early on, as well as private homes and barns.

Carl is survived by his wife Joyce Edmonds Robinson, daughter, Teresa Stockton (Larry); sons, Rev. Jeff Robinson Sr. (Ethel) and Anthony Robinson; stepdaughter, Beverly Lassiter (Darin); grandchildren, Jessica Robinson, Amanda Robinson Freeman, Alicia Evitt, David Robinson, Christopher Stockton, Malanea Stockton Norris, and Emily Stockton Cook, 25 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Chad Edwards and Brother Eddie Fox will officiate. Burial will follow on Monday at 11:00am, in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Robinson, Jeremy Holmes, Aaron Edmonds, Christopher Stockton, David Robinson and Matthew Peek; honorary pallbearer will be Ivan Rice.

The family will receive friends from 1-3pm Sunday at the funeral home.
