Carolyn Smith Crowder, 79, of Asheville, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Maude Smith and a native of Haywood County. Mrs. Crowder was preceded in death by her husband, James Crowder Sr.; her daughter, Crystal Banks; a sister, Geraldine McClure; and her brothers, Calvin and James Smith.

Mrs. Crowder is survived by her son, James Crowder, Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica Sherman (Scotty), Justin Banks, Colby Crowder (Destiny), Christopher Crowder, and Cody Faulkner (Mary); great grandchildren, Canaan, Cade, Riley, Raya, Nolan, Caedyn, Cohen, Colton, and Mia; sisters, Linda Swayngum, Barbara Keener, Bobbie Clark, and Louise Stewart;; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday, November 22, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Reverend Keith Watkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
