Carolyn DeBruhl Gunter, 79, of Alexander, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late Murray and Nell Whitt DeBruhl. She was preceded in death by a son, Darren Shane Gunter, a sister, Louise Franklin, and two brothers, Harold and Howard DeBruhl. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church.

Carolyn is survived by her husband OC Gunter, son, Ashley Dwight Gunter, sister-in-law, Phyllis Gunter; special niece, Marsha Sawyer (Scotty), two great nephews, Dalton Sawyer (Emma) and Seth Sawyer (Abigail), and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Gunter Cemetery. Brother Eddie Fox will officiate.
