IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Jane
Lamberson
February 1, 1939 – October 16, 2025
Carolyn Jane Hinton Lamberson, 86, of Mars Hill, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina to Avon Battle and Ollie Jane Lewis Hinton. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband of 53 years, Dale Lamberson.
Carolyn is survived by her son Allen and daughter-in-law Dinah. Carolyn was "Grandma" to Allen and Dinah's 8 children, Jacob (spouse Alex), Mackenzie (spouse Brett), Jack (spouse Lindsey), Zackary, Susannah, James, Emylou and Rosabelle. Carolyn is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Jane and Matthew Lamberson (parents Jake and Alex) and Daphne Jones (parents Mackenzie and Brett).
Carolyn's alma mater was East Carolina University where she earned a degree in music, followed by graduate studies in piano at Indiana University. Carolyn enjoyed being a professor of piano and music for over 40 years at Mars Hill College (now University).
Carolyn and Dale built their house on Woodland Drive in 1968 on the land where they would pause on walks during the early years of their marriage, to admire the mountain view. They welcomed Allen a year later. Carolyn turned their house into a home full of love, laughter and learning. In 1995 Carolyn transformed it again into a magical place known as "Grandma's house" where the toys never ended, the cream of wheat was always warm and time spent there was sure to make memories to last a lifetime.
A highlight of Carolyn's life was living on Allen and Dinah's farm in Minnesota for 8 years after retiring from teaching. She enriched her grandchildren's lives by passing on years of wisdom about cooking and homemaking as well as making lots of apple pie from apples grown on the farm. Carolyn took the lead in music education and performance for all of her grandchildren.
Carolyn was an active member of Mars Hill Baptist Church for over 59 years. Her family will honor her life at Mars Hill Baptist Church on Saturday November 1st, 2025. Graveside services at Mars Hill Baptist Church cemetery will be first at 11:30am followed by a service at noon in the church sanctuary. A light luncheon and time of remembrance will follow at the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Mars Hill.
Hebrews 4:16 "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn would desire an offering to Mars Hill Baptist Church Music programs to support the music ministry.
