October 23, 1941 – July 3, 2018
Charles Wellington Jamerson, formerly of Weaverville, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at John F. Keever Solace Center. He was the son of the late Wayne Kyle and Georgia Marian Marshbanks Jamerson and a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Charles was an employee of Balcrank, now Samoa, for 26 years where he served as a manufacturing engineer. He visited all 50 states, excluding California which he was 10 minutes away from. Charles as an avid hunter, outdoorsman and Nascar fan. He called Alaska his second home and urged anyone he met to travel there as often as possible.
Mr. Jamerson is survived by his daughter, Ginnette Marshbanks Jamerson of Cleveland, OH; son, Roy Wellington Jamerson (Nova Stuart-Jamerson); grandson, Dameon Stuart-Jamerson; much beloved sister, Coleen Crawford (Carlie) and their three children, Scott Whitt of Charlotte, NC, Kevin Whitt of Acworth, GA, and Shelly Bohner of St. Mary's, GA and their families; as well as his friend, Doug Sluder, who is much more a brother than a friend.
A funeral service will be held at 4pm Friday, July 6, 2018, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Jerry Jamerson, Jerry Shelton and Reverend Dr. Stan Welch will officiate. Burial will follow at Forks of Ivy Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm Friday at the funeral home.
There will be a meal for the family at the home of Coleen Crawford following the burial.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at West Asheville Baptist Church.
Charles will be missed by cherished cousins, friends at Balcrank and the Brian Center and his church family at West Asheville Baptist Church.
