Christopher Boyd Coates, 54, of Mars Hill passed away February 14, 2020. He is the son of Kathleen Gosnell Coates and the late Boyd Coates. In addition to his parents, Chris is preceded in death by a son, Wesley Coates.

Chris is survived by his wife, Kelli Coates; sons, Neil Coates (Emily), Ryan Craine, and Timothy Murray; sister, Sheila Coates Chandler (Eric); brother, Calvin Coates; grandchild, Quinn Coates; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 17, 2020, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Dennis Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Freedom Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
