Christopher Don Shelton, 57, of Alexander, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the son of Don and Verlyn Shelton and Linda Taylor Shelton. In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his former wife, Lisa Franklin; daughter, Jacklyn Viazanica (Martin); son, Kevin Carter (Amber); sisters, Rhonda Griffin (Paul) and Traci Crawford (Dennis); grandchildren, Kayley, Dillon, Lukas and Lenka; nieces, Emma Staton, Addie Dechant and Katie Gibson; and nephew, Colby Crawford. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Mark Crowder and C.W. Anthony will officiate. Burial will follow in the California Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Chris loved the outdoors. He had a gift for finding ginseng, growing tobacco and landscaping. He adored his family and cherished every moment he could spend with them and was proud of his Madison County heritage and especially enjoyed his time on Chandler Creek.
