Obituary

Claudia Ann Worley Reavis, 82, of Mars Hill entered her heavenly home on Friday October 24, 2025. She was born on September 12, 1943, to the late Clayton William and Velma Ponder Worley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Reavis; son-in-law, Marvin Silvers of Burnsville; brothers, Grady and Bruce Worley of Mars Hill; and a sister, Linda Sue Worley of Mars Hill.

Claudia was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church. Her work in the church was abundant, and her passion was teaching the adult ladies Sunday School class for many years. She also took pride in organizing and teaching the Vacation Bible School Adult Class. Claudia was never shy to tell you about her Lord and Savior and wanted to make sure others knew the Lord. She will always be remembered for picking up kids or a family in the community and driving them to church. She was very faithful in her prayers, praying for the needs of others with a trust that God's will be done.

Claudia had a long career with Micro Switch, Honeywell of Mars Hill where she was a supervisor until her retirement. During her career she received many awards, "The Lund Award" for special achievement in developing human resources and an "Appreciation Award" for all the years of guidance and patience.

For 22 years she was a student at Mars Hill College while working as a factory supervisor with Micro Switch. In 1977 she enrolled in her first class and loved it. Her aim was to get a degree in Business Administration. In 1988 she suffered a heart attack, however, with time, she recovered and became stronger with her determination to obtain her degree. Having a family, working full-time and attending college classes at night, she still stayed involved with her church and the community. On May 8, 1999, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Claudia graduated. She was a role model of perseverance and completed her 22-year journey to fulfill her dream. During her career she mentored many people by encouraging them to never give up. She was a true inspiration for many in her church, her family and career. Above all, she always trusted and put God first.

She was also very dedicated to the community where she was involved with the United Way and the Chamber of Commerce. She also served as leader with the WMU, Women's Missionary Union.

She is survived by her daughter, Marleena Silvers of Burnsville, and many nieces, and nephews.

A "special thank you" to Frank Cutshaw and Jenny for their compassion and care for Claudia, as well as the staff of Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.
