Obituary

Cling Honeycutt, 85, of Mars Hill, passed away on April 4, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on Foster Creek in Madison County on July 31, 1939. He was the son of the late Harrison and Macie Pack Honeycutt. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Honeycutt and grandson Robbie Allen, brothers Clinton, Claude, Grady, and Walter Honeycutt and sisters Mae Rice and Faye Roberts.

Cling was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed listening daily to bluegrass gospel music. He cherished and loved his large family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jerrie "Geraldine" Doan Honeycutt, daughters Becky Hamlin (Tommy), Charmin Revis (Jimmy), Carmen Garrison (Michael), and son Benjamin "Benji" Honeycutt, 14 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother John "Clay" Honeycutt (Genelle), sisters Irene Aiken and Jane Edwards.

Cling had a short stay in the United States Army. He held various places of employment throughout his life. He was a volunteer with the Mars Hill Fire Department for 20 years. He liked hunting, fishing and NASCAR.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service, with Reverends Joe George and Eddie Fox officiating. The family will receive friends from 11-1:00pm prior to the service. The burial will follow in the Laurelton Chapel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Mars Hill Fire Department.
