IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clyde Monroe
Manus
May 29, 1942 – October 7, 2024
Mr. Clyde Monroe Manus, 82, of Mars Hill, N.C., passed away peacefully in his home on October 7th, 2024, due to an extended illness.
Mr. Manus was born on May 29th, 1942, in Conyers, Georgia to Early Manus and Abigail Nix Manus. He is preceded in death by his current wife, Margaret Manus: siblings, Henry Manus, Jackie Manus, and MaryAnne Johnson: and sons-in-law, Buck McAllister and Buck Oliver.
Mr. Manus worked as a welder and retired from Dekalb Steel in Tucker, Georgia for over 30 years. He was an avid fisherman. He loved trout fishing, bass fishing, catfishing, actually any type of fishing. In addition, he loved spending time on the lake with a fishing pole in his hand. NASCAR racing was another favorite hobby. He loved traveling, flea markets, and yard sales. He always loved spending time with family any time he had the chance. Above all, he was a born-again Christian and was a new man in Christ. He loved his church family and going on outings with them. Family and friends affectionately knew him by Clyde and Papaw Clyde.
He is survived by his children: Elaina McAllister, Kim Whitt (Allen), Deana Jenkins (Edward), Johna Blackburn (Kenny), and Melissa Ball (Jay). He is also blessed with 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He has four stepchildren: Margo Speer Gaffin, Peggy Bumgardener, Richard Speer, and Jeffery Speer.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the care of Hospice and the Home Care of the Blue Ridge, specifically his nurses, Jennifer "his doctor" and Shannon, for taking such great care of him and the family during our time of need.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct 12, 2024, at North Buncombe First Church of God, 19 South Main St. Extension, Weaverville, NC 28787. Pastor Eric Young and Reverend Josh Mathews will be officiating the service. The family will receive guests at 2:00 and the service will begin at 3:00.
