David "Brooks" Doan, age 83, passed away on November 10, 2023. He was born on March 27, 1940 in Madison County to the late David and Nell Banks Doan.

Brooks joined the US Army and served in France and Germany. He was a member of Laurel Valley Baptist Church. Traveling out West was his favorite past time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Steven M. Doan.

Brooks is survived by his brother, Bruce Doan and wife Brenda, and a special niece that he loved dearly, Karen Doan Ray and husband Corey.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday November 14, 2023, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Kermit Ball will officiate. Burial will follow in the Banks Cemetery, Laurel Valley Road, Mars Hill. Keith Allen, Jim Banks, Ron Hensley, A.C. Honeycutt, Cleve Honeycutt, and Gene McIntosh will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 13, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Service.
