David Michael Lanning, 67, of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024. He was a native of Buncombe County and the son of the late George and Daisy Raines Lanning. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Junior, Jesse, and James Lanning.

David is survived by his special friend, Ramona Lanning; the mother of his children, Judy Hipps Lanning; daughters, Lisa Angel (Charles) and Denise Lanning (Mikey); sister, Anne Bradley; brother, Ricky Lanning; grandchildren, Dylan, Hailey, Mackenzie, and Elizabeth; and great grandchildren, Rae Lynn, Brinley, Amara, Mayson, and Mackenzie Rose.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday, October 25, 2024, at Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service. Pastor Clarence Blackwell will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
