David "Sonny" Gentry Thompson, 79, of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. He was born to the late Gentry and Edna Kellum Thompson. David was owner and operator of Thompson Plumbing Company in Marshall, US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam, recipient of the Purple Heart and an Amateur Ham Radio operator K5RU.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Shirl Walton Thompson; sons: Michael (Lorie), John and Louis Thompson and stepson Jonathan Greene (Amanda); grandchildren: Gentry, Whitney, Bailey and Dalton Thompson, Annsley Greene; special friend Lawson and his loving dogs, Bug, Benji and Bear.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers donation made be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 217E Tremont Avenue, Charlotte NC, 28203
