Dennis Carrol Bailey, 67, of Weaverville, passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Friday, March 31, 2023 at Mission Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the son of the late Milton and Hazel Ray Bailey.

Dennis loved to fish, spend time with his family, and help others when needed. He was a truck driver for many years. Dennis attended North Buncombe High School and graduated with an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering from AB-Technical College. He frequently volunteered with Chainsaws for Christ, in disaster recovery.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a son, Marshall Bailey.

He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Newman (Billy); stepdaughters, Elizabeth Cooner and Sarah Methvin; son, Mitchell Bailey (Nicole); stepson William Cooner; brother, Eric Bailey; eight grandchildren, Holly Merchant, Bailey Meadows, Leann Newman, Toccoa Meadows, Salena Newman, Bridgette Bailey, Yasmine Esparza, and Elora Allen; and eight great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday April 5, 2023, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Philip Emory, and Mr. Justin Dillingham will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 9 Antioch Church Road, Weaverville. The family will receive friends 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
