Dennis Murrell Bryson, 72, of Leicester went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 03, 2013. He was born in Jackson County to the late Henry and Nellie Talley Bryson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Dennis served in the US Marine Corps, as a military police officer at Cherry Point Air Station, N. C. Among many other awards, he received the sharpshooter medal. He was a retired logger and attended Leicester Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Christine Bennett Bryson, son Henry Lee Bryson and wife Carrie of Tustin, California, daughter Donna Wilson of Greeneville, TN., grandchildren; Michael, Matthew, Malachi and Hope Bryson, Brandon and Felicia Wilson, great grandchildren; Lucy and Kobe, brothers; Eldon, Henry Jr. and Bill Bryson, sisters; Kaye Bryson Jennings, Myra Bryson Smith and Louise Bryson Jennings. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Hamburg Baptist Church, Glenville, NC. Revs Nathan Johnson, Jeff Massey and Steve Ellis will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and also Monday from 6 – 8 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Service, 7626 Hwy. 213, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
