Don English Briggs, 89, of Mars Hill, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at his home. He was a native of Unicoi County, TN, having lived most of his life in Madison County. Don retired from French Broad Electric and was a member of Foster's Creek Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon and song leader. He also enjoyed auctioneering and working in the orange groves in Florida.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Mary Capps and Janie Briggs.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janice Arrington Briggs; daughter, Tonja Taffer (Jimmy), sons, Terry Briggs and Stephen Briggs (Leeanne); four grandchildren, LaTanya Mullis (Joey), Megan Stidham (Shannon), Robert Taffer (Samantha), and Mayson Briggs (Karista); and eight great grandchildren, Jonathon, Addison, and Sadie Mullis, Kayson Briggs, Sawyer Taffer, Justice and Valor Stidham, and Titus Taffer.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Robert Taffer and Kenneth Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lewis Branch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
