Don Landon "Don L" Murray, age 78 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Monday August 14, 2023. He was born March 5, 1945 to the late Moody and Orlie Clark Murray.

Don L was a member of Peeks Chapel Baptist Church. He retired as a rock mason and carpenter and raised tobacco with his two sons. He loved to farm and would do just about anything to fire up his Long tractor. On October 17, 1999, he married the love of his life, Myrtle "Peanut". Don L loved his family, but those grandchildren had his heart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruby Glen Murray, Glenna Jean Robinson, Bernard Murray, Ernestine Rice, Doug Murray, Carl Ed Murray, Joe Lynn Murray, Doug Murray, and a nephew Bruce Brown.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Phillip Murray (Sherry), Jason Murray, Teresa Barnett (Steve); sisters, Edith Brown, and Carol Coates; brothers, Vance Murray (Triva); 7 grandchildren, Shianne (Casey), Brooklynn, Hunter, Hope, Courtney, Cameron, and Shawn; 6 great grandchildren; and best friends, Roy Norton, Joe Ward, Hanniable Carver.

The family would also like to recognize and offer special thanks to Four Seasons Hospice for their care and services. They never hesitated one second to provide what we needed to carry out Don L's wishes to be at home til the end.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday August 17, 2023 in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Clark/Murray Cemetery. The family will receive friends from one hour prior to the service.

At other times the family will be at the home of Don L and Myrtle.
