DORA BELLE RIDDLE
MARSHALL - Dora Belle Ramsey Riddle, 92, of Ramsey Brothers Road, was surrounded by family as she peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, March 9, 2012, in Asheville.
Dora Belle, born on December 11, 1919, in Madison County, the daughter of the late Jake Nelson and Hester Willis Ramsey, was a retired produce farmer and homemaker. She was a faithful and active member of East Fork Baptist Church, a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, and presently attending Peeks Chapel Baptist Church. Shaped by the Great Depression, stoic in adversity, she saved sacrificially to provide an education for her children, and was frugal and prudent all of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend and benefactor of the poor and those in need.
Preceded in death by her devoted husband, Samuel Bulo Riddle, she is survived by her three daughters, Vivian Lucille Herrington and her husband Lee of Chesapeake, VA, Kathryn Ruth Geniec and her husband Paul of Jamestown, NC and Nancy Carolyn Laughlin and her husband Jack of Goldsboro, NC; two grandchildren, Beth H. Barnhill and Captain Edward L. Herrington; and 6 great-grandchildren, Blake H. Barnhill, Blair E. Barnhill, A. Faith Herrington, Samuel W. Herrington, Warren L. Herrington and Edward L. Herrington, Jr. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Missy. She was preceded in death by two sisters Matilda Ramsey and Joncie Lee Hutchins and a brother, Van Carter Ramsey.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, March 12, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Peeks Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Wheeler and Rev. Billy Murray, officiating. Burial will be at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Monday at the church.
