Dorothy Phillips Cody, 93, of Mars Hill, passed away, November 24, 2024. She was a native of Madison County and the daughter of the late, Cash and Dessie Tipton Phillips. Dorothy retired from Mars Hill College (University). In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ernest Cody; sister, Irene Harris; brothers, Jack and Edward Phillips.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Tammy Cody; son, Randy Cody; brother, Robert Phillips; sister-in-law, Kathleen Phillips; several loving and caring nieces and nephews; a special friend Naomi Ferguson and a chosen granddaughter, Taylor Dodge.

A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Bright Hope Laurel United Methodist Church. Reverend James Lamkin, Reverend Elizabeth Harris Lamkin, and Reverend Shonnie Streder will officiate. The burial will follow in the Lower English Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the fellowship hall.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Yancey House for the care they gave Dorothy during her stay.
