Obituary

Dwight Chandler, 94, of Weaverville, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026. He was a son of the late Lewis and Ada Ponder Chandler and a native of Madison County, living most of his life in Buncombe County. He is preceded in death by his wife, Annette Roberts Chander, sister Ruth Hudson, and three brothers, Phil, LC, and David Chandler.

Dwight was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He owned and operated Esso Service Station in New Bridge for many years and was a member of Pleasant Grove Union Church. Dwight devoted his life to his wife, children, and grandchildren. His passion was farming and he loved and respected the land that God gave him to steward.

Dwight is survived by his daughters, Terie Brank, and Melia Leffew; son, Randy Chandler (Karen Brown); brother, Ronnie Chandler, (Shirley); grandchildren, Carrie Hadley, Michael Johnson (Sadie), Jeremy Johnson (Katrina), Jody Chandler (Melody), Brandi Tweed, Ashley Leffew (Damon), and Paige Leffew (Rashad), great grandchildren, Jacob & Josie Johnson, Anna Harvey, Jocassee Holland, Makenzie Holcombe, Makaylah Banks, Hunter & Austin Chandler, Adyson and Kinleigh Tweed, and Jordan Hopkins; eight great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service with a graveside service following at 1pm at Chandler Family Cemetery. Reverends Ray Bailey, Mike Holder, and Jerry Jamerson will officiate.
