Mrs. Edith "Joyce" Gentry Franklin, passed away on November 10, 2022, at Mission Hospital. Joyce was the daughter of the late Erskin and Irene Lance Gentry. She was also preceded in death by six sisters: Helen Hollar, Mildred Ries, Alice Waldrop, Vergie Gentry, Betty Brown, and Pearl Thomas and two brothers: David and John Gentry. Joyce was a nurse and retired from the Memorial Mission Hospital Heart Wing.

Joyce is survived by her husband Collis "Junior" Franklin, Jr., two children: Eva Franklin and husband Roger Boone and Rodney Franklin, three grandchildren: Brandon Keith, Gracelyn Robertson, and Lesslie Williams; one great grandchild: Macon Robertson, two sisters: Jeanette Grooms, and Mary Elizabeth Black, and one brother: Luther Tate Gentry and wife Polly.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 1:00pm in Mt. Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery in Weaverville with Rev. Steve Rhinehart officiating.
