Wayne Denton, 76, of Marshall, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Edward "Clyde" and Catherine Reed Denton.

Wayne was a hardworking man, who started his career at Burlington Industries and was employed there for 22 years until they closed their doors and then worked at Thermo Fisher where he retired at age 62. While at Thermo Fisher, he started his own lawncare business that he worked diligently until his death.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brothers, Little Joe and Don Denton.

He is survived by his wife, Sherie Hill; sons, Phillip Denton and Tim Denton (Francy); sister, Helen Denton; brother, David Denton; grandchildren, Calvin Denton (Megan), Laura Denton (Jonathan), Junior Denton, Little Phillip and Allen Denton; great grandchildren, Noah, Carson Wayne, and Emma Denton, Jaden and Adalynn Jones; and a special aunt, Betty Jo Maxwell (Sam).

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Jerry Wheeler will officiate. Burial will follow in Tweed Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2pm Thursday at the funeral home.
