Edward "Eddie" Thomas Simmons, 58, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the son of Barbara Ann Moore and the late Billy Thomas Simmons. In addition to his father, Eddie is also preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Simmons and stepmother, Jannie Simmons.

Eddie attended Orthopedic School in Asheville before achieving his greatest accomplishment and graduating from North Buncombe High School in 1988, where he made excellent grades and served on the yearbook staff. He was the recipient of the Citizenship Award from the Sons of the Revolutionary War.

Eddie loved all the sports and was the biggest fan of football, baseball, and basketball. Eddie always wanted to be a sports broadcaster but couldn't fulfill that wish. Christmas was his favorite holiday, he also loved birthdays and opening presents and enjoyed listening to 80's music. But most of all he loved the Lord and was a member of Pine Burr Baptist Church.

Eddie was like a box of chocolates; you never knew what you were going to get.

He is survived by two sisters, Cherisa Fisher (David) and Amanda Simmons Sexton (Jamie), a brother, Chuck Simmons; several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 2, 2026, at West Memorial Park. Reverends Charles English and Eric Dimsdale will officiate.
