Eliza Shook Metcalf, 98 of Mars Hill went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2015. She was the daughter of Jeter and Etta Hensley Shook, and is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Metcalf, sisters; Hulda Hall and Mae Mace, brothers; Tom, Bill, Johnny and Riley Shook. Eliza is survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 18, at Upper Laurel Baptist Church of which she was a member. Reverend Junior Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 6 – 8 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Elderberry Health Care for the excellent care given to Eliza during her stay and especially during her last days which made a difficult time less stressful.
