Elizabeth "Liz" Adele Ponder Clayton gained her angel wings December 2, 2023. She was born October 5, 1928.

Liz was a beloved mother, Maw, aunt, and educator. Liz will be remembered for the stories she told of her grand and adventurous life as well as her bold personality. She was not afraid to share her opinion or empowering advice.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Clayton, her parents Louis and Raymonde Ponder as well as her brother Louis Ponder Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Betsy (James) Greene, grandson James "J.T" (Pricilla) Greene and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a warm welcome to those who would like to join them to celebrate her life on Saturday, December 9, at 1:00pm. The celebration will be held at Gabriels Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to Gabriels Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1087, Mars Hill, NC 28754. to assist with cemetery upkeep where she and many family members are laid to rest.
