Elmer "Randy" Penland, 72, of Weaverville, NC, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026. He was the son of the late Ernie and Betty Penland Owenby. Randy loved spending time in Montana. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Metcalf Penland.

He is survived by a son Chad Penland (Lori); grandchildren, Alexis, Sage and Chance Penland; a sister, Judy Rice, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Friday, October 9, 2026, at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. Reverends Steve Rhinehart and Bob Hagan will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
