Emily Metcalf Thomas, 83, of Walnut Cove passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018. She is the daughter of the late Chauncey and Ella Jane Callahan Metcalf. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Janice Metcalf and brothers, Bobby, Fred, Zane, Dale and Joe Metcalf. Mrs. Thomas is survived by a daughter, Rosanna Powell (Greg) and son, Rodney Thomas; grandchildren, Carson and Megan Powell and ex-husband William "Buddy" Thomas. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and recently attended Beech Glen Baptist. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Josh Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Bull Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
