Erma Sue Gosnell Rice, 79, of Marshall, went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Mission Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Ueal and Dolly Letterman Gosnell. She is also preceded in death by her husband Harvey Eugene Rice, sisters, Madge Burrell and Carolyn Fish, and her brothers, Rodger, Cletus, and Bud Gosnell.

Erma retired from Shadowline after 26 years of service, and then later retired from KenPack (Print Pack) after 13 years of service. Erma was a loving mother, grandmother, and Gran-Gran. Her life was simple, but she loved so many. If you knew her, she loved you. Her best friend, Mable Proffitt, worked with her at Shadowline. They rode to work together for 26 years. She loved Mable very much and enjoyed life.

Erma was a member of Sexton Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Fox and husband Ricky of Marshall; sons, Brian Allen Rice of Marshall, and Edward Eugene Rice and wife Lynn of Mars Hill; adopted daughter, Donna Rice Wallin and husband Danny of Marshall; grandchildren, Bradley Fox and wife Kendall of Salem, VA, Travis Fox (Amanda) of Waynesville, Destiny Michelle Rice of Marshall, Jessie Zieger and husband Luke of Hot Springs; great grandchildren, Lennon Peige and Norah Grace Fox of Salem, VA, and the beloved dog, Max.

Her greatest love were her children, grandchildren, and being Gran-Gran to her great grandkids. They were the love of her life.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, February, 22, 2025, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service. Reverends Jimmy Dean Hensley and Dennis Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rice Family Cemetery. Ronnie Rice, Brad & Travis Fox, Darrell Rigsby, Gary Hernandez, and David Harwood will serve as pallbearers, and Larry Rice and Steve Proffitt will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12-1pm Saturday at the funeral home.
