Ernest Ovid Burnette, 86, of Marshall, NC, passed away November 7, 2022. He was the son of the late Elbert Marion and Katie Brown Burnette. Ernest has been a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1959, where he formerly served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir director. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Tim Burnette; sister, Rebecca Baldwin; and a brother, Elbert Burnette, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Rice Burnette; sons, Gary Burnette (Donna), Greg Burnette (Lisa), daughter -in-law Terri Burnette; grandchildren, Shaunte' Burnette Means, Travis Burnette, Timmy Burnette, Tiffany Burnette Payne, Tara Burnette Hyatt, Gabby, Lauren, and Micah Burnette; great grandchildren, Emma, Macy, Lottie, and Shepherd Burnette, Jax, Ellie, and Owen Hyatt, Carter Burnette and Brayden Means; and a brother, J.W. Burnette.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Reverends Timmy Burnette, Jason Hyatt, and Keith Watkins officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
