Evelyn Coates Brown, age 85, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was born in Madison County on February 28, 1938 to the late J.R. and Bessie Davis Coates.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Dewey McKinley Brown; sons, James and Jerry Brown; grandson, Greg Brown.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Beck (Darren); sister, Iva Norton; brother, James Coates; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Garland Rice and Phillip Parker will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kirk Payne Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
