Evelyn Mae Bailey Emery, age 81, of Weaverville, passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2023, at the CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.

Evelyn was born in Buncombe County on June 1, 1942. She was a daughter of the late Riley Howard and Hattie Sawyer Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin Emery, and a brother, Riley Howard Bailey, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela Joan Emery; sister, Brenda Garrison; brothers, Tom Bailey (Lorinda), and Charles Bailey; one beloved grandson, Master-at-Arms 2nd Class, Benjamin Charles Morrison; nieces, Connie Schropp, Dana Davis, Stephanie Waldrup, and Rachel Rogers; and one nephew, Steve Bailey.

The family would like to express a special Thank You, to the staff at Care Partners Hospice Solace Center, and also to Renee Shetley Cornwall, RN for the special attention and care given to Evelyn.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday July 14, 2023, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Philip Emory will officiate. Burial will follow in Ivy Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm on the day of the service.
