Mrs. Evelyn McDevitt Nix, 99, of Marshall, passed away at The Laurels of GreenTree Ridge on January 4, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Reagan and Katherine Thomas McDevitt. Evelyn was a Member of Marshall First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years: Joseph Dewey Nix; a daughter: Paula Nix; three sisters: Reba Rector, Amalee Allen, and Nina Ford; five brothers: Warren, Otto Raymond, Howard, and Troy McDevitt; and one granddaughter: Adrienne Kayla Nix.

Evelyn is survived by her son: Joseph "Joey" Dewey Nix, Jr. and wife Karen; two grandchildren: Bonnie Nix Mayronne and husband Matthew and Garrett Joseph Nix; and a great grandson: James Thomas Mayronne.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 1:30pm in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with the Rev. Dusty Black officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 1:30pm prior to the service on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pritchard Cemetery in Marshall, NC.
