IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fay
Ball
November 10, 1940 – December 16, 2023
Cornelia Fay Ball, long-time resident of Mars Hill, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Born on November 10, 1940 to James Wesley and Mary Sue Jacobs, Fay grew up in Johnson City, Tennessee and graduated from Science Hill High School. After marrying the love of her life, Phillip Ball, Fay moved to Mars Hill, North Carolina where she served on the Madison County Board of Elections for decades. Even after retiring as the Director of the Board of Elections, Fay was never far from the election site, returning many times to organize elections and train new volunteers.
Fay Ball's passion was evident in everything she did, whether it was serving Madison County or being a successful Avon representative, but her true passion and heart was with her family. Fay married Phillip Ball on December 21, 1963 and was married for 59 years; together, Fay and Phillip had two wonderful children - Kaylen and Daniel. Fay was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more.
A member of Calvary Baptist Church and active choir member for years, Fay was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Wanda Jacobs.
She is survived by her daughter Kaylen Ball of Morristown, Tennessee; son Daniel Ball of Mars Hill, North Carolina; grandsons Brandon Banks, Tyler Banks, and Ethan Ball all of Asheville, North Carolina; granddaughter Georgina Amaya and her husband Rafael Amaya; great grandson Landon Banks of Asheville, North Carolina; sister Evelyn Jacobs Meade and brother-in-law Donald Meade of Jonesborough, Tennessee; brother Kenneth Jacobs and sister-in-law Mary Ann Jacobs of Butler, Tennessee; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverends Garland Vance and Glenn Graves officiating. Burial will follow at the Ball Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Daniel Ball, Ethan Ball, Brandon Banks, Lee Meade, Jason Joyner, and Nathan Joyner.
The family wants to thank Calvary Baptist Church for all their support during this time.
