Forrest Arvin Dodd, 91, of Mars Hill, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025. He was born on September 8, 1934, in Madison County to the late Welzie and Ada Lee Rathburn Dodd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Bradford Dodd; three brothers, J.B. Dodd, Harris Dodd, and Rev. Eugine Dodd; a sister, Evelyn Bradley; and son-in-law, Richard Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Smith; sons, Rickey Dodd (Denise) and Jimm Dodd; brother, Rev. Billy Dodd; grandchildren, Nathan Messer (Elizabeth), Carol Gardner (Kashif), Sarah Hensley (Justin), Robin Terry (Leon), Aaron Allen, and Bobby "Bo" Dodd (Sarah); 11 great grandchildren; a special care giver, Judy Martin; and several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Forrest was a man who walked with God and lead numerous people to the Lord with his witness. He was a member of Terry's Fork Freewill Baptist Church. Forrest loved everyone and never met anyone who he didn't like.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 2, 2025 in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverends Randy Sprinkle, Danny Spirnkle, and Ricky Honeycutt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bradford Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bo Dodd, Chad Husky, Nathan Messer, Aaron Allen, Justin Hensley, and Kashif Gardner. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the services at the funeral home.
