IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fronia
Gunter
September 13, 1932 – January 7, 2024
Fronia Gunter 91, of the Guntertown community at Marshall, passed away on Sunday, January 7. She was born, and lived her entire life, in Madison County. She was the daughter of Silvanes and Linnie Treadway Gosnell.
Fronia died the way she lived her life, struggling and grappling with death until the very end. She derived great pleasure in the hard work she did on the farm, and the bountiful gardens that she grew. She loved and fiercely protected her children, and no sacrifice for them was too great. In addition to full-time farming, she served as the Chief Judge/Registrar for the Madison County Board of Elections in the Laurel precinct for many years. She worked in the Madison County School System as a substitute teacher, high school librarian, and teacher's assistant until a stroke disabled her at age 57.
Fronia is survived by her children Terry (Martha), and Debbie (Elias); sisters, Emma Lee Mitchell, Irene Snelson, and her brother, Harold Gosnell. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Carlie Gunter, brothers, Herman, Starlin, James, Alonzo, Artie, and Charles "Bud" Gosnell; and sisters, Pauline Deaver, Lillie Mae King, and Opal Gosnell.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30pm Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Phillip Shelton will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Norton Family Cemetery located on the farm she so dearly loved and lived at for 75 of her 91 years. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Fronia's final days were filled with loving kindness, and support of the family, by the wonderful staff at Elizabeth House. The family also wishes to recognize and express our gratitude for the contributions of her very special nephew, Billy Gosnell, for all the support before and after Fronia's passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her honor be made to the Four Seasons Elizabeth House Foundation at Flat Rock, NC.
