Gary "Woofy" Luyckx, 62, of Leicester, NC passed away on March 24,2024 at Mission Hospital. Gary was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Dorothy Luyckx.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his Mother-in-law, Shelby Jean Carver and several aunts and uncles.

He was a 1979 graduate of Mountain Heritage High School. In 1985 he went to work at Banks Skating Rink in Barnardsville as a DJ. As a DJ he started imitating "Woofman Jack". This is how he received the nickname "Woofy".

In 1988 he went to work at TSA/Choice. In his 32 years of working for the company he made numerous friends. TSA/Choice became his second family. His work ethic was appreciated by everyone that worked with him. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone.

Gary is survived by his wife of 25 years, Darlene Carver Luyckx. Over their wonderful 25 years of marriage, travelling, and being at the Cabin on Big Pine was what they most enjoyed. He is also survived by his brother, Ronnie Luyckx; father-in-law, Bobby Carver; cousin, Roy Hensley Jr. of Hudson, NC, and many special friends; Greg Trieper, Mark Lindsey, Michael Banks, and the TSA/Choice crew that loved Woofy like a brother just to name a few.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday March 27, 2024, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Jerry Jamerson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A burial will be held at Little Ivy Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be Tony Rogers, Steve Clark, Stacey Ball, Randy Collins, George Collins, Dan Higgins, Greg Trieper, and Mark Lindsey.
