Georgia "Leigh" Ammons Ellison, 63, of Mars Hill, passed away at her home, Sunday, August 14, 2022. She is a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of Norma Jean Proffitt Ammons and the late Jim Ammons. Leigh was a member of Gabriel's Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed the outdoors and bird watching. Leigh is also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Terry Waldrop.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Ellison, children, Amanda Coffey (Charles), Kyle Ellison (Nathen Foster), Hannah Ellison, Tanner Ellison, Kristen Gilliam (Jason), and Brandon Joe Ellison (Megan); sisters, Teresa Worley (Harold) and Teleda Waldrop; brothers, Jimmy Ammons (Beth) and Jeffery Ammons (April); grandchildren, Chloe and Blake Coffey, Nathan and Eli Gilliam, and Briana and Bella Ellison; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Brother Eddie Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
