Gregory "Doc" Lloyd, 48, of 13895 Big Laurel Road, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Duke University Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of Winston and Faye Metcalf Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Minyard and Climmey Hensley Lloyd, maternal grandparents, Bruce and Zelda Shook Metcalf. He was a member of First Church of God at Ivy Ridge and a member of N. C. Wildlife Resource. Greg worked in the family business with Discount Monument and also farmed. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Kim Buckner Lloyd, God Children; Britney, Ariel, Shawn and Danica Cody, mother-in-law Sue Edwards, Aunt Carol Ann Bailey, close friend Linda Henderson, Loving Aunt and Uncle Melba and Ted Baker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Bill Blythe and Richard Lowe will officiate. Burial will follow in First Church of God at Ivy Ridge cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be; Owen Slagle, Randy Davis, Dwight and Warren Cody, Jake and Harley Metcalf, Danny Rice and Dean Shelton The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Saturday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Kim Lloyd or Winston and Faye Lloyd.
