Grover Dale McKinney, went to be with the Lord November 7, 2021. He was a native of Spruce Pine, NC and a resident of Marshall for the last 47 years. He was 79 years old at his passing. He is the son of the late Clyde and Louise Hefner McKinney and is also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Snipes (David).

Grover was a member of Alta Pass Baptist Church and attended Red Hill Freewill Baptist Church for the past 47 years and retired from Magnavox after 30 years of employment. He loved reading his Bible, gardening, working outside, and spending time with family and friends.

Grover is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, who will miss him greatly, Betty McDevitt McKinney; daughter, Andrea McKinney of Weaverville; son, Anthony McKinney of Marshall; sister, Rebecca Plemmons; aunt, Peggy McKinney (Gus); sister-in-law, Helen Cole, and numerous cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm Friday, November 12, 2021, at Red Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Reverends Caleb Birchfield and Marcus Benfield will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care he received prior to passing at Advent Park Ridge Health. Especially that of the ICU unit and Dr. Kim, his attending physician.
