Gwendolyn Shook English, age 84, passed away Tuesday, July 07, 2015 at Madison Health & Rehab. She was the daughter of the late Sylvanus and Rhoda Sprinkle Shook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed English; sisters, Lacy Shook, Dolly Carver, Molly Whitt, Esther Davis, Vertie Honeycutt, Grace Riddle and Foch Shook.
Gwen is survived by her daughter, Lena Shelton (John); sons, Orville (Debbie), David (Sharon), and Marvin (Gail) all of Mars Hill; sister, Bureda Ray, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Gwen's family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at Madison Health & Rehab for their loving care.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 9th at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Reverends Ken Parker, Jerry Keasling and Harold Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Shook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday at the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service.
