The body of Harriett Stamper Marlor, 85, of Mars Hill died peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

Born on December 31, 1940, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen Newman Stamper. Harriett devoted many years of her life to serving others through her work as a front desk receptionist with the Buncombe County Department of Social Services. Her career reflected her compassionate spirit and her unwavering commitment to helping those in need.

Harriett will be remembered for her kind heart, quiet strength, and the care she showed to both her family and her community. A faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville, she found great joy in teaching children and sharing the love of Jesus with them. She believed that teaching was important and that it was not babysitting. The children were her "little darlings". She wrote Sunday School lessons with original songs and activities for much of the Old Testament and New Testament.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin C. Marlor, Sr., who passed away in 2016.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her stepchildren, Calvin C. Marlor, Jr. (Virginia), Donna Renee Marlor, and Keith Wesley Marlor (Linda); six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, April 12, 2026, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service with Reverends Winston Parrish, Allen Rash and Mr. Jim Holland will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Spartanburg, South Carolina at 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
