Harvey Gerald Buckner, age 78, of Asheville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025 and was surrounded by his loved ones.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Burleson Buckner, and siblings Howard, Luther, Doris, Bonnie, Betty Jean, and Carol. He was the son of the late William and Ada Sue Rice Buckner.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Hensley and her husband James of Asheville; and his grandchildren, Nikki Swarts and her husband Travis of Asheville, Candace Thomas and her husband Chris of Georgia. His three great-grandchildren, Logan Swarts and his wife Alex of Marion, Caleb and his wife Haley of Georgia, and Londyn, who were all the sunshine of his life. He also cherished his great-great-grandchild, Rowyn, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of Sailor. He was united with his great-great-grandchild " Wylder" when he passed into heaven.

Harvey is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Wilson (Don), and Helen Jarrett; his brother, Dennis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey had a big heart and an immense love for everyone in his family.

The family will receive friends Friday July 25, from 4pm to 6pm at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 7626 NC-213, Mars Hill, NC 28754. The graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10am at Ashlawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Rd, Asheville, NC 28804 with Junior Hollifield and Chris Thomas speaking.
