Mr. Homer "Slick" Calvin Bailey, 93, of Weaverville, NC passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Swannanoa Health and Rehabilitation. Homer was the son of the late Walter and Ocie Corn Bailey and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He served his church, Open Bible Church, as a deacon and superintendent for over 50 years. Homer was preceded in death by his wife: Martha Sellers Bailey and a sister: Doris Reid.

Homer is survived by his daughter: Patricia Higgins and husband Buddy, one grandson: Justin McCoy and wife Lisa, one great grandson: Oakley McCoy; a sister: Vera Bailey Stroupe, and two special friends: Robert and

Pauline James who took a keen interest in Homer over the last few years.

A graveside service will be held for Homer at 11:00am Friday, June 16, 2023, at Sluder Cemetery in Asheville, NC with the Reverends Robert James and Marvin Watts officiating. No visitation has been planned for Homer.
