Obituary

Ida Robena Davis Chandler, 84, of Weaverville, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026. She was a native of Madison County and the daughter of the late Ish and Ollie Davis. Ida was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, and she retired after 30 years of employment with BHP as a certified nursing assistant. She loved canning, cooking, and working in the flowers in her yard. Ida was a loving wife to Arlyon and was a devoted and nurturing mother to her son Dwayne until he passed.

Ida is preceded in death by her husband, Arlyon Chandler; her daughter, Janet Arlene Carter; a son, Dwayne Chandler; sisters, Barbara Mace, Carol Freeman, Sandra Davis, and Joyce Rice, and two brothers, Ish "Speedy" and Bud Davis; three grandchildren, Krystal and David Carter, and Chris Chandler.

Ida is survived by her son Warren Chandler (Pam), brother, Vernon Davis, son-in-law, Mike Carter; and grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Ayden, Ezekiel, and Jude Chandler, and Tina and Josh Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 6pm Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Flat Creek Baptist Church. Reverends Brian Hanrahan and Ben Whitmire will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be held at a later date at English Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Flat Creek Baptist Church, to support Thrive Bible Camp, 21 Flat Creek Church Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friend Donna Hensley and her Sunday school class for all their support, love and prayers.
