Obituary

Irene Gladys Honeycutt, 89, of Mars Hill, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong resident of Madison County, Mrs. Honeycutt retired from Shadowline as a seamstress, and was a member of Upper Laurel Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Julia Boone Shook, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Jobie Honeycutt; son, David Jack Honeycutt; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Honeycutt. Surviving are her daughter, Melba Grindstaff and husband Bill (Vaughn) of Weaverville; sons: Jerry Honeycutt of Carrollton, GA and Roger Honeycutt and wife Teresa of Mars Hill; grandchildren: Dana Louis Snyder, Bill Grindstaff, Jr., Vince Grindstaff, Michael David Honeycutt, Shannon Honeycutt, Shawn Honeycutt, Jason Honeycutt, Kevin Honeycutt and Karen Solock; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 PM Sunday in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, with the Rev. Stanley Peek officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a very special "Thank You" to the physicians and staff of Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care Irene received during her eight years there.
