Jack Perry Phillips, 81, of Mars Hill, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018, at John F. Keever Solace Center. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Cash and Dessie Tipton Phillips. Jack was an US Army veteran having served in the Philippines. He enjoyed many years at Hammurland Manufacturing building and testing radios. He was a licensed electrician and a small business owner. He and his brothers started and operated Phil-Co Hardware and Building Supply in the 1970's and 1980's. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Irene Harris; brother, Edward Phillips; and two brothers-in-law, Vance Harris and Ernest Cody.

Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Davis Phillips; sons, David (Dana) and Mark Phillips; sister, Dorothy Cody; brother, Robert Phillips (Bernice); brother -in-law Walter Eugene Davis; sister-in-law Shelby Jean Phillips; grandchildren, Kyle (Kaitlyn) and Carson Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm Sunday, October 21, 2018, at California Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member since the mid 1960's. He served there as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. Rev. Josh McDevitt will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
